In a past few years ever since we tried to transform from analog to digital, Uganda’s transport system has been so dynamic in changing its trends also. As a matter of fact many Private Taxi Companies like Uber, Taxify, Executive Taxi among others have been ushered into the country.
Uber is so far the biggest private Taxi company in Uganda however according to the information reaching us indicates that some clients are being robbed off by some drivers who over charge them using screenshots of previous trips.

According to Vince Musisi a renowned sound engineer who is currently living in fear after exposing uber driver’s fraud on Tuesday January 9 when he sought the services of Uber for a ride from Kabalagala Equity Bank to Cynibel Supermarket Kiwatule. He was thus picked up by a one Belinda Semakula driving Toyota Probox UAU 396V.
When he reached his destination, the Uber driver asked him to pay him a bill of Shs90,000! However, being a city smart client, Vince told her off since the receipt reflected Shs31,000 which he paid. However, the driver rejected to end the trip and demanded for Shs.90,000.
According to Vince, the driver showed him a screenshot of a previous client’s bill as way to hoodwink and fraudulently overcharge him. When he contacted Uber, he was ignored.
“Further behavior of this kind will result in the suspension of your cash option”, Uber replied him.
Vince also found solace in social media. He narrated his ordeal on Facebook accompanying the post with screenshots.
Uber Technologies Inc. is a global taxi technology company headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States, operating in 633 cities worldwide and here in Uganda its head offices are located in Industrial Area.
As of now the reputation of Uber is on stake since it has opted to threatening clients by scrapping off their cash payment options to resolving the matter amicably.
