Renowned Ugandan opposition political party Democratic Party have denied Ronald Mayinja ever being in their political party. They claim he has never been registered anywhere formally in their register and so they do not recognize him as a member of their party.

This comes after Ronald Mayinja performed when members of the ruling party NRM party celebrated winning the age limit debate on Sunday 25th February 2018. This has led to mixed reactions from different people especially from the opposition parties since many thought that Mayinja belonged to the opposition.

Democratic Party Secretary General, Gerald Siranda, while addressing journalists on Tuesday said the ‘Tuli Ku Bunkenke‘ singer is not anywhere in the party’s records as a member. Siranda had this to say;

“We have checked all the party records from Bottom to the top and Ronald Mayinja’s name is not featured anywhere.”

Ronald Mayinja has in the past been seen on various Democratic Party events, and many times has been seen in accompaniment of DP’s Betty Nambooze. DP went on to make it clear that had Mayinja been part of them, he would have been facing the disciplinary committee to answer questions as to why he sang at the NRM celebrations of The Age Limit victory.
