Uganda’s wonder kid, Ykee Benda, has landed a major deal with the most watched football tournament, the World Cup 2018, alongside American pop star Jason Derulo and a few other African acts including Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz.

Ykee Benda, real names Tugume Wycliff, had a great year of 2017 musically and it seems like he is not just yet about to break the flow of good news surrounding his very fresh music career. Like it is every artiste’s dream, Ykee Benda has landed a deal to collaborate with one of the world’s top artistes Jason Derulo alongside fellow top African acts including Diamond Platnumz. They are expected to create and perform a World Cup 2018 theme song at the prestigious football event that will take place in Russia.

Diamond Platnumz will also feature in the world cup song.

The World Cup 2018 will start on 14th June and go on till 15th July. It is the most watched sports event and a total of 32 football teams will fight to win the most coveted golden world cup prize. 12 different stadiums in Russia will be used throughout the tournament in the 11 selected host cities. Africa will be represented by 5 countries including Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia. European giants Germany are the defending champions heading into the 2018 edition of the World Cup in Russia.

It is at the opening ceremony that the world cup theme song will be performed by these artistes. Jason Derulo joins a cast of top African artistes. Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, Ykee Benda from Uganda, and a few other top artistes from South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia and Mozambique have been selected to add their African flavor to the world cup theme song.

The theme song is titled ‘Colors‘, and it celebrates the vibrancy and excitement that fills up the stadiums at the world cup football tournaments every four years.

Ykee Benda could not hold his excitement when such good news was broken to him and he has filled all his social media platforms with thankful quotes as his fans keep bombarding him with congratulatory messages.

Well, this only happens once in a lifetime. Kudos Ykee Benda!
