Singer Jose Chameleone‘s candidate, Nathan Nabeeta of the NRM loses elections to FDC’s Paul Mwiru in the Jinja by-elections. Chameleone performed at Nabeeta’s campaigns and declared his support for the candidate prior to the elections.
It is no secret that singer Jose Chameleone is a prominent supporter of the ruling party in Uganda’s politics, the NRM. The singer has performed at many NRM political rallies whenever he is called upon to and it was the same case a few days ago during Nathan Nabeeta’s campaigns.
At the start of this week, Chameleone performed at Nathan Nabeeta’s campaigns in support of the NRM candidate’s aspirations ahead of a tough political battle against Paul Mwiru of the FDC political party. The two candidates, and other politicians from other political parties, faced off in the Jinja by-elections. The two candidates stood out because of the political rivalry between National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Federation for Democratic Change (FDC), which political parties they represented going into the elections.
The heated up elections were held out yesterday and by 8:00PM, Paul Mwiru belonging to the FDC political party had won the elections, edging out NRM’s Nathan Nabeeta and other contestants. After being declared winners of the election, the supporters of Paul took it to the heavily guarded Jinja streets to celebrate their sweet victory over Nabeeta who had the backing of the ruling party, President Museveni and many artistes including Jose Chameleone who performed at his campaigns.
Well, the ‘Champion’ seems to have lost this time. Congratulations to Paul.
