Uganda’s top most institution of learning Makerere University has come to a conclusion to stop admitting students on evening programs after a number of inquiries done by the Administration.
Through a media presser held today at the University premises, The Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe revealed that the University Council has resolved that all new students starting with the coming Academic Year 2018/19, will be admitted to study at Makerere University on either the day programme from 8:00am to 5:00pm or on the afternoon program from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
Prof. Barnabas also went ahead to highlight about the hot issue of ‘Sex For Marks’ in which he assured the media that the University has Zero tolerance to Sexaual harassment.
“I want to reassure our development partners that the University has zero tolerance to sexual harassment and a I constituted a committee of 5 professors headed by Prof. Sylvia Tamale from the School of Law to investigate all sexual harassment cases and any that may be brought to them by the general public. A report should be ready in two months”
Prof. Barnabas Said.
He went a head to clear the image of Makerere University on by Suspending Ronald Ainebyoona who openly testified on TV that he forged academic documents to get nominated to run for Guild Presidency and submitted the case to police because bribery and forgery are criminal offenses.
Hopefully the removal of evening classes won’t result into strikes.
