After quitting Sipapa Entertainment, singer Melody has hit back at his former boss calling him useless. He said Sipapa is not beneficial and he has quit to look for greener pastures elsewhere.
Melody, real names Kakooza Manson, is known for his mega hit ‘Nkoleki‘ on which he featured legendary artiste Jose Chameleone. He broke out onto the scene after winning a talent search show that was organised by Bobi Wine about five years ago. He won UGX 1M as prize money and a one year recording contract at Bobi Wine’s Fire Base studios, but the promises were not fully fulfilled.
Due to his exceptional talent however, he was spotted by music promoter Sipapa who signed him under Sipapa Entertainment and financed his collaboration with Jose Chameleone. The two recorded ‘Nkoleki‘ which was a mega hit and it put Melody among the biggest prospects to rule the airwaves in years to follow. However, this failed to come to reality as Melody failed to release a song bigger than ‘Nkoleki‘. His career has been stagnant for the past 2-3 years and he blames his boss for it.
Melody claims that Sipapa has failed to meet the terms they signed in his contract, and that is the reason his career has hit a halt. He says Sipapa focused mainly on the female artistes under the record label and no efforts were directed towards him to help promote his music. He claims he has many songs in studio, but they cannot be released without enough funds for promotion. He also says Sipapa does not pay him yet he always performs on several events. Melody said;
“Sipapa is useless. I haven’t benefited anything from Sipapa as a musician. I don’t have any song that I recorded from there. I’ve been singing for free while in his group. I don’t have any money on my account. He even failed to pay my rent. My landlord confiscated my property. I always move with just a few clothes in my bag which I keep on changing. I cannot go on like this.”
It is to the above account that Melody has decided to quit Sipapa Entertainment and pursue a solo career as he looks for greener pastures because he believes he is talented and his music will get him somewhere better.
Good luck Melody!
