Uganda’s top disk jockey, DJ Shiru real names Kiberu Shiru, is known for being one of the pioneer deejays in the industry. He is famous around East Africa for his special mixing and song selection skills. He has over the years showcased his exceptional talent at many gigs around the region and even overseas. Shiru has also been employed in many hangout spots around Kampala for particular nights to pull crowds due to his huge following.
News reaching us however is that the celebrity DJ has lost his job at Bugolobi based hangout spot, Monot bar and Lounge where he has been an employee for a couple of years holding weekly theme nights. Reasons concerning DJ Shiru’s dismissal are still not clear but reports claim his theme night failed to attract a crowd in recent weeks, and the bar owners could not wait any longer.
The legendary DJ Shiru has now been replaced by DJ Xzyl, who is widely known for her deejay stints at Sanyu FM. Xzyl also plays at Bristos bar, and she is among the top female deejays in the East African region. She was voted the Best Female DJ last year in the DJ Awards.
DJ Shiru on the other hand has now been booked at Kansanga based The Dawn Bar, where he will also hold weekly theme nights.
