Sylver Kyagulanyi

Legendary singer, songwriter, producer, instrumentalist; Sylver Kyagulanyi is the latest artiste to be added to the list of elite artistes. The ‘Congratulations’ singer graduated from the Law Development Centre on Friday and is now a certified counsel.

The rate at which Ugandan artistes are graduating lately is inspirational. Back in the day, being an artiste was looked at as a title for the hooligans and shabby personalities. Lately however, Ugandan artistes have embraced the aspect of adding higher education and smart brands to their natural talents. At the beginning of the year we saw a couple of artistes including Spice Diana graduate which must have changed a few beliefs.

Sylver Kyagulanyi explained why he chose to do the law course instead of concentrating on his gospel music that has made him famous, Kyagulanyi said law had been his passion since childhood. He said if he had not done music, probably, he would have become an advocate long time ago.

In his own words, the singer said;

Everyone has their approach of doing things and my approach was the concentration approach of keeping a low profile while I studied law and that is why you didn’t hear it anywhere that I was pursuing a law course. Even in my music career, I have always had a low profile approach to it but for the last five or six years, I was at the law school and after becoming a lawyer, that didn’t give me locus to represent clients in court and because I wanted to practice law, that is why I had to come to LDC and do a Bar course. It’s a good feeling, it’s a good day.

Different artistes have come out to congratulate Sylver Kaygulanyi upon his accomplishments, and we hope this inspires the young generation of artistes to hold education with high regard.
