Aaron Ochieng, has been detained for failure to fulfill his end of the bargain when he was instructed to payback money in compensation for stealing Joy Doreen Biira‘s Mercedes Benz car worth Ksh 2.8 million two years ago. The former KTN editor failed to settle the matter out of court.
When he decided to drive off with a stolen car, Aaron Ochieng probably expected to get away with the crime. Last year, the former KTN editor was reported to have stolen Joy Doreen Biira’s Mercedes Benz. He was arrested, charged and remanded by police for failure to pay Ksh 1.2 million to his colleague.
Joy Doreen Biira was kind enough and was supposed to receive the money as compensation to settle the car theft matter which they mutually agreed to be settled outside court. The court forfeited the Ksh. 300,000 which Ocheing had paid as court bail to serve as part of the settlement since both parties had agreed to settle the matter away from court.
Aaron however failed to pay the required money. He only paid Joy Doreen Biira Ksh. 350,000 and constantly asked to be forgiven. He even went ahead to publicly apologize last year so that Doreen would withdraw the case but all his pleas fell on deaf ears.
Aaron has now been remanded for failure to complete his side of the bargain despite Joy Doreen Biira’s kind gesture when she allowed to have the case settled out of court.
