Award-winning video jockey Marysmats Matovu commonly known as VJ Junior The Incredible is reaping more fruits from his hard work. The VJ has been approached by the European Union to help translate eleven European movies, that will feature in the Euro-Uganda Film Festival (EUFF), into Luganda.

Growing up, VJ Junior picked interest from other video jockeys including the popular VJ Jjingo. He picked up from the inspiration and began translating movies from other languages into Luganda. Junior has over the years become a popular figure among the local audience with fans who adore him for his ability to precisely interpret the message in the movies he translates.

His popularity among the locals has earned him a privileges in the social spheres and he also won the Bwaise Councilor elections. He has managed to build a home and has various other business around Kampala.

Through agents from the Europen Union, VJ Junior is among the several other Ugandans set to play a big role in the forthcoming EUFF. He is to translate community screened movies to help bridge the communication gap and break the cultural barrier between Europe and Uganda among the local audience.

Some of the movies he is expected to translate include The Secrets Of Kells, Patients, Land Of Mine, Jack Strong, among others.

The Euro-Uganda Film Festival will celebrate it’s 4th Edition from July 10th to 20th in celebration of providing the best in new cinema to Kampala audiences. The festival will be hosted in multiple venues across Kampala including the National Theater, Kamwokya playground, Design Hub, Jazz Ville Bugolobi among others.

The EUFF will also celebrate 2018 as the European Year of Cultural Heritage and cinema is an important part of this.
