Wow! That is exactly the reaction I got when I came across this video of Ugandan rapper Gravity Omutujju giving food and drinks to the homeless people on Kampala streets.

It is not many times when you will see a celebrated artiste get down low to the streets to share a moment with the street children. The only time it could happen is when a celebrity is shooting a video and uses the opportunity usually to gain public sympathy.

Eddy Kenzo did it with the Triplets Ghetto Kids in his song ‘Sitya Loss’ that gained him global recognition partially because of the kids dancing in the music video. It also attracted American rappers Swae Lae and French Montana to use the same dance group in their collaboration, ‘Unforgettable’, which also went platinum.

Well, forget the business side of the issue. Lugaflo rapper Gravity Omutujju real names Gereson Wabuyu is said to have rose from the streets before he joined the music industry. He therefore could have an idea what a night out there in the cold would mean and it is the same reason he occasionally takes a walk on the streets to associate with the homeless people on the streets.

In this particular video, Gravity is seen holding packs containing food stuffs and drinks, walking on Kampala streets late in the night. He then makes stops wherever he finds a person sleeping on the street sidewalks, wakes them up and gives them something to eat and drink. He goes ahead to have a chat with them before proceeding to his next stop.

We are not sure who recorded the video and for what reasons but this a good gesture to celebrities and any other person who can lend a hand to the needy. Let us help where and when we can.
