One of Uganda’s best female vocalists, Jackie Chandiru, has for long been battling drug addiction. For over five years, the songstress has been in and out of rehab centers. She has finally been declared safe and able to live on her own out of rehabilitation homes.

Two years ago, former Blu 3 songstress Jacki Chandiru almost lost her life from the effects of drug abuse and addiction. The singer who, with efforts from family and friends, had been subjected to medical attention relapsed from the rehabilitation which almost sent her to the grave.

Her fans, fellow artistes, family, and friends then joined hands and raised funds to enable the vocalist to put her back into rehabilitation where she has been until a few days ago when she was freed and sent back to her family.

The good news however comes with something her music fans might have never wanted to hear. The doctors have advised her to stay away from doing music, the bad peers who could have influenced her into drug abuse, and anything else that could put her back into the need for drugs.

Jackie Chandiru, who has been put under strict supervision at her sister’s home, agreed to the set conditions and there are speculations that her husband is planning to take her out abroad where he is setting up a few businesses to help keep her busy and away from music and bad peers.

As sad as it may be that we won’t be able to listen to new music from the singer again, we are happy that she is fine and back to normal.
