One of the famous social events from the past, the Royal Ascot Goat Race, is back. After so many years of absence, the goat race will be taking place at Speke Resort, Munyonyo on 25th August 2018.

Silly as it may seem, people love the goat races where they gather in large crowds and watch as goats race for a big prize that the owner of the winning goat takes home. It used to be one of the most anticipated for event in the annual calendar of social events.

The real first goat race in Uganda took place at Kampala Rugby Club in 1993. The idea was brought forward by a member, a horse breeder, of Entebbe Sailing Club as the club was trying to raise money for various developments.

It was successful and over the years became one of the most attended events. There was need to find larger space for the races, and for convenience Speke Resort Munyonyo was selected as most suitable for the event in 1999. The biggest goat race event took place in 2005 and over UGX 10m was raised for local charities from a crowd of over 7,000 people.

The event has been off for over seven but the event organizers announced that the races are back, and even better.

An ideal family day out, filled with slay queens, lots of liquor, fashion explosions, cameras flashing from all directions, and so much more, is something you surely would not want to miss. The race is also screened live on different television stations.

Be sure to attend on 25th August to catch a feel of the event.
