Renown city comedian, Charles Kakooza commonly known as Mariachi, was arrested last night by police for insulting and assaulting a traffic police officer who stopped him for driving in the wrong lane. The comedian and his friend spent the night under police custody.

Mariachi, together with his hang-on only identified as Micheal Bunjo, were thrown into the coolers for assaulting a traffic officer who, while on duty, stopped them for driving in the wrong lane. Mariachi who was hurriedly rushing to his destination drove in a wrong lane trying to beat traffic.

He was stopped by a traffic officer, PC Eldard Kamugisha who is attached to Old Kampala police station. Reportedly, when the officer requested to have the driving permit and the vehicles particulars, MC Mariachi and his friend began throwing insults at the traffic officer.

The scuffle then became physical as the two disembarked from their car, registration number UAZ 127T, and started raining slaps and punches on the man on duty. In the process, the officer’s police uniform was torn apart.
