One of the most successful football clubs in Europe, Italian giants AC Milan, have been banned from European football for one year for breaching the Financial Fair Play regulations set by UEFA. They were also found guilty of violating club licensing regulations.

UEFA indicated that the Italian club, which had qualified to take part in next season’s Europa League, spent over 200m Euros on transfers last summer leaving a deficit of over 100m Euros compared to the limit of 30m Euros granted by UEFA hence breaching rules around requirements for clubs to break even.

AC Milan said they would appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for a prompt review to see the ruling overturned.
