Last week, Brian Isiko was arrested and charged with sexual harassment and offensive communication for sending texts that suggested sexual behavior towards Kabarole district woman MP Hon. Sylvia Rwabogo. He was given a two years in jail sentence.

Such cases are rare in Uganda and as you would expect, it sent the public into a wave of mixed reactions. Some people were not aware of the presence of such a law as others kept questioning what wrong the 25 year old Brian had done in expressing his feelings to the woman MP.

Hon. Rwabogo responded to the public opinion and questions through a Facebook post on her page saying the boy sent her worse messages than the public imagined.

She also narrated about how Brian was being used by some selfish individuals in a mission to lure her with love and kill her. She said that there was so much endurance of suffering and psychological torture that she was subjected to when she discovered why the boy was texting her.

The woman MP noted that the late Nebanda was also killed in a similar way and hence she arrested the boy as precautionary measure to avoid being killed as well. She said that this was not the first time she was receiving messages of love but the intentions behind them this time were different and hence her reaction.

If it was for love, I have had many even those younger than Brian and much older, but this was none like other with intentions to harm me.

What do you think about entire saga?
