The last time faded vocalist Leila Kayondo appeared in the media was after an embarrassing moment on a television set.

While on the set, singer Leila Kayondo, who had been invited to premier her new song Musaayi was cut short as producers saw she wasn’t stable to continue on as she was visibly tipsy and quickly brought on another artiste.

                                          Leila Kayondo appearing on KURT with Tuff B.

However, the good news now is that the singer is in cloud nine as she was surprisingly nominated in the 5th edition of the Africa Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in the category of Best Female Artist EastAfrica with the likes of; Rema , Juliana Kanyomozi, Sheebah Karungi, (Uganda), Akothee and Victoria Kimani (Kenya), Charly & Nina and Knowles Butera (Rwanda), Nandy and Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania).

To many and critics may think that she doesn’t deserve to be on the list for reasons of not seeing her work. But inside her she’s comfortably strong and took to her social to silence her critics as she told them to back off and just vote for her because she will be in Dallas come November representing Uganda.

“Yooo my #Kayondofestoz l am happy that I was nominated @afrimma
#BestFemaleArtistEastAfrica
@africanmuzikmag
Please let’s get voting. Let’s get the award home my Ugandan family.
And to those that are mad that I don’t deserve to be on the list. Yoooo chill, I might be going to Dallas Texas to represent Uganda and you”,

she wrote.

Luckily enough her fans are very willing to vote in her favour to bring the gong home.

However, her nomination has raised Ugandan music fans eyebrows leaving many unanswered questions about the credibility of the awards as most don’t know the last time they had a hit song from the diva but only to be heard in news over controversy fights for men.

As from Mbu , we wish you congratulations as you head to Dallas!
