Cyber harassment convict Brian Isiko finally released on bail

Brian Isiko, the YMCA student who was earlier convicted for sending sexual text messages to Kabarole woman Member of Parliament Sylvia Rwabogo, has been granted bail by the High Court.

In the wake of charges concerning sexual harassment and offensive communication, Brian Isiko was last month sentenced to two years in prison by Buganda Road grade one magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu after pleading guilty to sending sexually suggestive messages to Honorable Sylvia Rwabogo.

Through his lawyers, Brian Isiko applied for bail sighting his need and desire to get back to school and attend lectures since he was still a student at YMCA, Mukono. His lawyers noted that he was a young man whose education and future depended on the success of the bail application.

Judge Jane Francis Abodo of the High Court granted Brian bail because she was satisfied by the sureties of Brian Isiko. She said;

The allegations of not being the first offender were not proved by the respondent and therefore his bail application succeeds.

Abodo however asked Brian Isiko to pay a cash bond of up to Shs 500,000 and Shs 5 million by each of the two sureties. In addition to ordering him to report to court Deputy Registrar every third Friday of the month starting 17th August 2018, Abodo warned Brian from ever contacting MP Sylvia Rwabogo again.

Failure to comply to will definitely lead to him being remanded again.
