Mr Candia Luiji, the owner of Pacific Hotel in Arua Town where MP Bobi Wine and his colleagues were staying during the campaigns says he did not have any gun on him when he entered the hotel.
Following the shooting dead of Bobi Wine’s driver, Yasin Kawuma, Pacific Hotel located on Adumi road in Arua was closed off by security agencies and declared a crime scene.
Police paraded ammunition and guns, which they claimed were in Bobi Wine’s possession in his hotel room at Pacific Hotel, before media yesterday. The owner however disregarded the claims stating that Bobi Wine did not have all that when he checked in the hotel. Luiji said;
“These people did not get any gun here. They should be ashamed to tell lies to the public that they got guns. If they got the guns from somewhere, they should tell the public instead of blaming our hotel.”Candia Luiji
Luiji furthermore revealed that in the wake of the campaign violence on Monday evening in which Bobi Wine’s driver was shot dead, the security men broke 22 doors of rooms in his hotel during their search while beating some of the staff. Two of his staff were arrested.
He also accuses the security agencies of stealing his guests’ valuables and money amounting to Shs 80m.
“I will file for damages of the property and also what the guests lost. My lawyer is drafting the suit against the security forces.”A
Bobi Wine is set to appear before the Court Martial later today (Thursday 16th August 2018) to answer charges of treason, malicious damage of the president’s vehicle, and illegal possession of fire arms.
