Several stakeholders have come out to call for the release of the now remanded musician-cum-politician Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine who is the representative Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East.
Bobi Wine was arrested whilst campaigning in Arua, the West Nile district of Uganda, and was subsequently charged with possession of firearms and ammunition.
Bobi Wine is said to have been tortured and currently not able to walk, sit or do anything by himself. However, all these remain allegations as only his legal representatives have been allowed to see and talk to him.
These developments have triggered an online campaign on both Facebook and Twitter with Bobi’s fans and followers calling for the release of the vocal politician.
A hashtag #FreeBobiWine has been started and several key individuals have echoed their voices demanding the freeing of Bobi Wine ranging from regional politicians like Kenya’s Miguna Miguna to media personalities and the ‘Wanainchi’ social media users.
