Singer Edrisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo, who is considered as Uganda’s finest music export, yet again scooped the Best Performing Arts Award at the colorfully organised Young Achievers Awards ceremony.
The multi-award winning star won the gong after beating competition from four other competitors who among them included his wife and baby mama Remah Namakulu .
To many Kenzo’s winning did not come as surprise as everyone expected him to be announced as the winner and anything less than that it would have been injustice as many had crowned him just when the final list of nominees was released a fortnight ago.
The event that was held at Kampala Serena hotel attracted several dignitaries who included Kenya’s Deputy President, H.E William Samoei Ruto and with great honor he was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
As most of you know Eddy Kenzo story, then William Ruto’s story is no or slightly different. Before Ruto became a powerhouse in Kenyan politics he was previously also a chicken hawker on the streets of Nairobi and the organizers thought he really deserved the accolade and handed over it to him.
Other winners of the night included Natalie Bitature who won the business award and expressed that she desires to make other youths, especially girls know that business success is hinged on determination, interaction with others and taking an extra mile.
Brian Gitta won the Innovation and ICT award while Andrew Musoke a student at Social Innovation Academy in Mpigi emerged as winner of Social Entrepreneurship .
