We have all been waiting for President Museveni’s statement about Bobi Wine’s situation since he was arrested on 13th August 2018. Museveni disregards earlier reports that the Kyadondo East MP was badly injured during his arrest.

Honorable Kyagulanyi Robert Sentamu commonly known as Bobi Wine was arrested a week ago after riots in Arua that led to the president’s lead convoy car to be stoned after the by-elections campaigns.

Bobi Wine was detained on treason charges but his delayed presentation to the public arose rumors that he had been badly beaten during arrest. His family also confirmed the reports after they were finally allowed to see him with his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi, stating that his husband was hurting everywhere with broken bones and a deformed face.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni however dismissed the earlier reports through a statement he issued on Sunday 19th August. He called the reports ‘fake news’. Part of his statement read;

“I decided to check with Army doctors because, being a disciplined Army, UPDF doctors always take precautions in such situations. Bobi Wine had already been seen by doctors in Arua, Gulu and Kampala. He has no head or chest injuries or bone fractures, they informed me.”

Despite the president’s statement, there have been reports indicating that Bobi Wine was rushed abroad after his health deteriorated on Sunday morning.

We shall keep you updated with confirmed reports once we have them.
