‘Bankuza‘ literally means ‘I was raised well’ if directly translated to English. Chosen Becky‘s song is one that is dominating the airwaves around Uganda but what is the message encrypted in the song?
Slowly, the name Chosen Becky is gaining momentum on the Ugandan music scene. Many were shocked to find out that she was indeed the owner of the song titled ‘Bankuza’ when the video was finally released. Many thought it was actually Rema Namakula’s song regarding the likeliness in the voice and how she hits the high notes.
The video, a colorful one for a fact, includes comedy duo Madrat and Chico who add the bit of fun to the set.
The story line of the song depicts a short love story about the hard work Becky had to put in to win the heart of a particular guy who played hard to get initially. The video too expresses the message within the lyrics.
With such a voice, Becky Chosen will have most Ugandan music lovers adding her to their list of big prospects. She does have the talent, we can agree with that for now at least. But there is more to music, especially in Uganda, than just the voice and we hope she has it all.
