News just coming in shows that the Minister of State for Ethics and Integrity, Father Simon Lokodo has written to the Inspector General of Police and the Internal Affairs Minister to stop the yet to happen Nyege Nyege Festival.

The highly popularized Nyege Nyege festival is slated to happen in Jinja from the 6th to the 9th of September.

The Minister points out that several stakeholders have raised a red flag against the event overtime and allege that the event promotes LGBT culture in Uganda, something which the country strongly condones.

We are yet to confirm if the Uganda Police is in receipt of the letter from the Minister and ready to execute the order. We shall keep you up to date.
