Three goals; a brace from Emmanuel Okwi and a penalty converted by Farouk Miya gave Uganda Cranes a win against Lesotho in the African Cup Of Nations 2019 Qualifiers match which was played at Mandela National Stadium.

Emmanuel Okwi celebrates one of his goals

Several celebrities turned up to support the national football team. Camouflaging within the various fans that flocked Namboole, singers, dancers, comedians, producers, actors, actresses, and other media personalities screamed on top of their voices to be the twelfth man in support of the Uganda Cranes.

Before the game kicked off, I was keen to notice a few artistes in the crowds. In the VIP section where I was seated (no pun intended), I saw Patrick ‘Salvado’ Idringi, Lydia Jazmine, B2C Entertainment, Sheebah, Roden Y Kabako, among others.

The commentator gave a few shout out to those few celebrities he saw. The likes of Jose Chameleone sat surrounded by their own fans and they too seemed to enjoy the game.

At halftime, in the men’s restrooms, I overheard the popular Katongole Omutongole tell whoever cared to listen that Ugandans should celebrate together without any divides for once.

The Cranes were already two goals up and you could feel the happiness within the stadium. Everyone wore a smile as they enjoyed the rest of the match.

We again like to congratulate the Uganda Cranes upon their win and wish them the very best in the return leg to be played on Tuesday 16th October. If they win that game, they solidify their spot at the AFCON 2019 finals.

Did you watch the game? Who was your man of the match?
