Scores died on October 11th after landslides swept across five villages in Bududa District. According to Bobi Wine, the government has failed to prioritize in spending on the major issues affecting Ugandans, and several empty promises.

This is not the first time these landslides and mudslides are causing numerous deaths in the Eastern Uganda district of Bududa. Since March 2010, people have been losing their lives to these landslides.

“Each time, government promises to put measures in place to prevent such tragedies; well until the next time it happens and another promise is made. The solution lies in us having the right priorities.”

Despite efforts by the government and different other relief organisations to offer support to people in the affected areas, no lasting solution has been installed to make sure not more lives are lost, at least according to Kyadondo East MP Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert.

In the recent occurrence however, Bobi Wine has raised the dust and thrown the responsibility back to government which he thinks is not doing enough.

Also, he has gotten in touch with fellow Members of Parliament to discuss on several ways in which the people in the affected areas can be assisted as well as to demand for concrete measures to be devised by the government in prevention of a recurrence of the same tragedy.
