“…and the winner is, LEILAH NAKABIRA“, those were the words on the screens to announce the Ugandan actress as the winner in the category of Best Actress in the UDADA International Women’s Film Festival.
It takes time to convince yourself that you got the talent, and even more to take it up as a career. For an actress, everyone’s dream then is to appear in a major film.
You start to get the roles and then you want the major roles, then you get call-ups to star in that one movie that surprisingly changes all dynamics. Suddenly you want to win awards after several nominations but each ceremony comes with a different winner.

So has been the story for Leilah Nakabira, a talented Ugandan actress who has for months longed for her very first award from the many nominations earned from her star role in the ‘The Forbidden‘ movie.
On Saturday 20th October 2018, her dreams came true during the UDADA Film Festival in Kenya when she beat her competitors to win the award as Best Actress.
Filled with joy, Leilah expressed how it had become a pain for her to get several nominations but without a win. She shared her success as well with the cast and crew that put in the work towards making The Forbidden such a great inspirational movie.
Well, congratulations to you Leilah. We hope that is just part of the start to the journey of a thousand more major honors.
