As elections draw near for the 2018 Uganda Sports Press Association presidency, media personality Lucky Mbabazi has revealed that she desires to be the next USPA first lady as she rallies behind her husband Patrick Kanyomozi.
Kanyomozi has been General Secretary for the journalist’s association and now seeks higher ground in a bid to replace Daily Monitor’s Mark Namanya, the outgoing president.
Lucky, in a quite long but well executed monologue started by describing the pressure Patrick is having over his shoulders ahead of election day.
“The pressure is hitting me by default because every day when he comes home, he’s like ‘did you go for campaigns? Who did you talk to?’ And then i pester him, am like ‘who is on your side, can i do anything?’ because i want to be the first lady because if he becomes president, automatically I become first lady.”Lucky Mbabazi
When questioned on what she has done to help her husband win the seat, Lucky replied; “Since am fighting for myself, i have used my persona to tell people who he is. He’s a really nice guy, he’s passionate about sports, and i think USPA will be very lucky to have him as their leader.”
Patrick Kanyomozi is vying for the same post as NTV Uganda’s Sam Mpoza. The latter promises to organize educational seminars as a tool for widening the scribes’ knowledge and understanding of the various sporting activities while the former hopes to carry on with the positive contribution he has added to the body while secretary.
USPA recognizes the best sports personalities per month when they hold their respective monthly conventions. These are followed by the end of year dinner where all the excelling sportsmen and women are rewarded at a glamorous ceremony.
Good luck to them both!
