At the moment, jazz on the streets is all about the AFRIMA awards and surely many were shocked with singer Irene Namatovu‘s appearance in Ghana.
Her nomination left many baffled, wondering what exactly she had gone to do at the AFRIMAs.
First, some thought that she had also been invited as a panelist at the AFRIMA business summit like Bobi Wine because she is believed to be one of those Ugandan musicians who have accumulated lots of wealth through music.
But we have an answer for you. The De New Eagles singer was also nominated in two categories as Best Female East Africa and Best In African Traditional.
The Bed Cover singer came out and asked all the critics to drop the rumors and instead value the sensible issues because she is representing Uganda in Ghana.
“Esonga Ezamakulu Tuziwe Amakulu”, she said, loosely translated as “let’s value issues that are very important”.
Let us wish her the very best in Ghana on Saturday.
