With the wreckage of the capsized boat being recovered by the rescue unit at 7am on Sunday morning, the number of dead bodies have risen to twenty seven.

At around 6pm on Saturday night, a boat managed by Earthwise Enterprises en-route to Mutima landing site in Mukono capsized, killing several revelers who were on board for a boat cruise.

A joint rescue operation conducted by the Uganda Police Defense Force, Uganda Police marines and the locals, were quick to embark on a rescue mission.

Over 100 people were confirmed to have been on the boat before it capsized and only 26 people were able to be rescued alive, and thirteen bodies on the night.

The survivors who were able to be rescued on Saturday night were shortly whisked away in a bus as the rescue mission continued.

Among those included Buganda Kingdom Prince David Wasajja and popular songstress Iryn Namubiru.

By 10:00am today, six more bodies had been retrieved from the lake with officers mentioning that they do not expect to find anymore survivors.

We are using enough equipment to ensure that this operation goes well but we do not expect to find anymore survivors. I will be giving more information about it all.
