Ideally, music is first a talent that develops into a passion and then a business for the lucky few. Below is a list of the top ten most booked Ugandan singers for the 2018 festive season.

King Saha

Honestly, 2018 did not start well for King Saha. The first months of January and February must have been a nightmare as he looked for that one song that would reignite the fire in him to set the ball rolling in this calendar year.

It took him a reproduced version of his 2012 song, On My Way, to find his own way back on the music charts in March. Since then, he has not looked back.

King Saha

He has released several hit songs including Biri Biri, Very Well, Mpa Love, among others which have revoked the favor of music fans around the country and he will be the man to watch this Christmas and into the new year.

Bobi Wine

To start with, we are not sure that he will go ahead and perform at all the events and shows for which he has been booked because police has been on his neck since the completion of his successful Kyarenga concert.

All other factors constant however, Bobi Wine is the most sought for artiste of 2018, with fans across the country yearning to breathe the same air with him. It is the reason music and events promoters petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to have his ‘performance ban’ revoked.

Fik Fameica

Like it was in 2017, Fik Fameica could be the busiest artiste this festive season. His music has only improved this year making him one of the most demanded artistes and despite experiencing a low turn up at his My Journey concert, he will touring different cities to make a merry with his growing fan base across the country.

Vinka

Omukwano Gwo, Sweet Love, Mapozi, Nkubika, Tubikole, Chips na Ketchup – the list of her hits this year goes on and on. The self-styled Boss Man Jah must be on every promoter’s list and expect her in your town anytime soon.

Spice Diana

When the late Mowzey Radio listed Spice Diana as the artiste to watch this year, he meant that in all its fullness. As we close 2018, Spice Diana has been one of the busiest singers and the road only keeps getting straighter for her.

Sheebah Karungi

One songstress that has lasted the tricky test of time and only keeps soaring musically is Sheebah Karungi. The TNS queen is still a darling to several music consumers and it would be unfair not to have her at any show this season.

Ykee Benda

The Boy So Tender only broke out onto the big scene in 2016 but his rivals, if he has any, are feeling all the heat that he carried with him. 2018 saw him consolidate his position at the table of men with more projects added to his hit-studded list of songs and he will be busy.

Lydia Jazmine

She broke away from her longtime manager and everybody thought that was the beginning of her end. However, she has only become stronger as an artiste and her contribution in the industry earns her a spot on the list as one of the most demanded artiste through this season.

Rema Namakula

This is merely her season. Rema is just the artiste you will need to add spice to festivity and she has done well musically this year. With Touch My Body, Whistle, Tikula, Banyabo, Siri Muyembe, among others, she will be expected to perform on several stages across the country.

Maureen Nantume

Whereas her fellow band singers have musically declined this year, the Akambe songstress has been a force in her own league and just like Rema, this is her season too. She deserves the praise she gets from her fans.

Bonus Artistes; Carol Nantongo of the Tukigale, Kamese Tambula, and Bitafutafu melodies remains top in demand just as well as Chosen Becky, the talent behind Bankuza and Byabangi.

Carol Nantongo

Who should be on the list but didn’t make it? And why?

We know you feel like there are a few names missing on the list. We agree, and here is why;

2018 has been a year filled with several events involving political, social, and economic constraints.

Artistes like Jose Chameleone, and Bebe Cool will not be such a hot item and it is not such a shocker, is it? The latter’s heavy involvement in the political spheres took a big pinch of his music prowess and the Leone Island boss also seemed to drop his guard musically this year.

The Radio and Weasel fans as well must feel robbed and cheated during this festive season for obvious reasons. Mowzey Radio, the most crucial piece of the dynamic duo died on February 1st and not many events organizers would wish to risk it with Weasel.

Planning Ahead: Weasel and Jose Chameleone

As we head into the most favorite part of the year for most people around the world, let us enjoy responsibly because life does not have to end now.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
