Following the heated criticism and backlash from a few religious leaders about Bobi Wine’s latest song titled Tuliyambala Engule, Pastor Solomon Male has insisted that the song has no problem.
Pastor Joseph Sserwadda and Peter Sempa had earlier come out to castigate Bobi Wine for using the song yet it is originally known for religious purposes.
However, Male says the leaders are wrong because the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament is singing about the injustices in Uganda.
Male asked while speaking on NBS TV.
When Bobi Wine sings a song, when does it become evil?
Bobi Wine is singing about the injustices we have in this country. The song is rallying us for patriotism.
“Engule” resonates with the challenges people face, murders, health care issues, injustices.
Is he the first one to sing, what sin has he committed? He’s rallying people behind the cause. The bible mandates us to advocate for the weak and oppressed.
He added
We see politicians on a day to day basis quoting scriptures to drive their point home, why can’t Bobi Wine do the same?
Pastor Male is the Executive Director of Arising For Christ. He is an outspoken critic of corruption in churches, especially those that promote prosperity theology which he calls “the gospel of extortion”.
