On Friday, two hangout joints in the areas of Kololo were closed by Kampala City Council Authority following complaints of noise pollution by residents.

Atmosphere Bar and Lounge and Ragga Dee’s Big Mike’s bar were among the seven hangouts which were sued by five Kololo residents, including Oxfam International head Winnie Byanyima, over noise pollution.

The Kololo residents sight that the bars exceed the sound limit on top of possessing flood lights and big screens which are an inconvenience to their families.

Big Mike’s, which allegedly belongs to veteran singer Ragga Dee was closed and it is said to have lost over Shs70m since its closure.

The singer-cum-politician is now threatening to sue KCCA as he endeavors to seek compensation for the money lost in the days the bar has been closed.

H2O Bar and Lounge, which is located around the same area was also among those bars which were shortlisted to be closed due to noise pollution.

It was not closed however and there are reports circulating indicating that it was a malicious act for Ragga Dee’s bar to be closed yet H2O, which allegedly belongs to Winnie Byanyima herself, is still in operation.
