The East African Hip Hop music fraternity woke up to bad news on Thursday morning after learning of the demise of legendary rapper Chris Kantai.

Widely known for his hit songs like Huu Ni Nani G, Happy, Ting Badi Malo, Chris Kantai commanded a huge fan base in the rap circles within Kenya.

His popular name Kantadda became a leading force in Kenyan music in the early 2000s with Huu Ni Nani G and Happy on which he featured rap star Stella Mwangi.

His fame seemed to depreciate over the years but he surprised many with a comeback three years ago with Ting Badi Malo, a song on which he featured Kaligraph Jones.

According to Nairobi News, Kantai was admitted to hospital on Monday following an undisclosed illness.

He breathed his last on Wednesday due to complications with breathing.

On learning about his death, different people started sending in their tributes and condolences.

He will be remembered for his huge contribution to Kenyan Hip Hop.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
