Bobi Wine blames State for Dr Kizza Besigye attack

A mob in Bulange Mengo attacked Kizza Besigye as they shouted ‘People Power’ chants. Kyadondo East MP Bobi Wine cites malicious play to tarnish his movement’s image.

On Saturday afternoon, F.D.C stronghold Dr Kizza Besigye was whisked away from Bulange Mengo after being attacked by a group of youths who kept chanting against him.

Besigye was rounded up as he made his way to his vehicle after talking on the Parliament Yaffe program on CBS FM.

They however did not harm him physically as he was quickly put in his car by his aides who then sped him away from the scene.

On learning of the developments, People Power’s main man Bobi Wine made a statement in regret to what the youths had done to fellow opposition leader.

Bobi however maintained that People Power is a non-violent movement which condones acts of violence against anyone.

He also left a statement of doubt saying that it could have been staged by the State to paint a bad picture around his movement;

Those who have followed the politics of this country will understand that such stunts and machinations have in the past been stage-managed by the state and some other actors to achieve political objectives.
