Just when Uganda’s youngest rapper Fresh Kid was starting to rise, Hon Florence Nakiwala Kiyinji has stepped in advising him to stop performing and rather stay in school.

Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyinji, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs in the Cabinet of Uganda, has warned anyone dealing in booking and ensuring that Fresh Kid performs at several events instead of keeping him in school.

Despite his managers constantly stating that the artist is a pupil in Primary Three, Hon. Nakiwala warns that he should not be used for their financial gains.

She states that Senyonjo Patrick a.k.a Fresh Kid should not be exploited to make money because that puts him in a position of child labor which is against the laws of the nation and its citizens.

In the Ugandan constitution, there are laws that regulate the children of the nation. It prohibits child labor for any child between 0 to 18 years of age.

The cabinet Minister noted that the rapper misses school since he is always busy working when other children his age are busy studying in school.

She believes that Fresh Kid has been put in what she terms as ‘harmful employment’ and punishment should be given to anyone who manages the rapper’s daily activities.

Those that book Fresh Kid’s services are also bound to be punished according to Hon. Nakiwala.

She, henceforth, warns anyone dealing with Fresh Kid – his managers, booking agents, and even his fans – to stand warned because they risk falling victim to the violation of laws against Child Labor.

  1. For real these are quite things and people who have let this country down….
Look at countries out and above us, How many kids in England and many countries are not at school and they are busy with their musical and football lessons, everyday in different academies and they end up making it big, they have achieved alot…. We have all witnessed a big talent in this kid,…..but Ugandans…. Anyway these guys believe that it’s only Education that brightens up everyone’s future which is very wrong!!!
This kid can do both, where were they those days to stop Baby Gloria just because she was engaged in Gossipel music…… This is never fair at all…..

  2. The honorable is truly right of her statement, it is constituted in the law of Uganda since 1995 and it’s yet ongoing. To me, that fresh kid is being used for one else benefit of which it is dangerous to his right as a child. I therefore call upon the concern people to join in hands with the minister for youths and children’s affair in helping fresh kid. Joseph comments.
