On Friday 5th April 2019, Kampala Serena Hotel was filled with revelers who came from all corners and gathered to witness Congolese music legend Awilo Longomba perform.

The event dubbed Awilo Live in Kampala 2019 was planned and organized by Cents Events.

A couple of local artists including Levixone, Patrick Idringi Salvado, Jackie Chandiru, Eddy Kenzo, and Charmant Mushaga performed at the concert.

Cindy Sanyu was also expected to perform but was replaced at the last hour with Jose Chameleone who did a great job and got the crowd on its feet just before Awilo stepped on stage with his band.

The reasons behind Cindy’s last-minute replacement seemed to have caused a stir, especially on social media as critics cited foul play towards the Onnina singer.

Cents Event released a statement elaborating on why the former Blu*3 songstress was replaced.

One of the reasons stated reveals that Cindy Sanyu arrived at the venue 40 minutes late from the agreed time and the program could not be changed at that moment.

Another reason is that Cindy did not attend any of the rehearsals sessions prior to the concert and hence the organizers didn’t feel she was ready to perform at the coveted event.

It’s for the above reasons therefore that the songstress was quickly replaced with Leone Island’s Chameleone who was already at the venue.
