Chameleone lights up Kawempe as he commences the 2021 Mayoral race

A big leap of faith and hard work is what Joseph Mayanja a.k.a Jose Chameleone has decided to take on in his pursuit for the Kampala Mayoral seat come 2021.

On Monday, Chameleone revealed how he was prepared to take on the challenge to become the next Lord Mayor of Kampala and he started his journey on quite a moving note.

As eager as a bridegroom on the wedding day, Jose Chameleone had been waiting for Saturday to go back to Kawempe – a town where he spent his childhood days.

The celebrated singer visited Kawempe where he spearheaded the Bulungi Bwa Nsi activities as locals turned up in large numbers to participate in the general cleaning of Kawempe market.

Thereafter, amidst loud ululations and visible excitement, Chameleone put on his football boots and joined the locals in a match as his selected side played against the Kawempe team.

He then addressed the residents often emphasizing that he was fully prepared and determined ahead of his new leadership journey.

I started my music journey here and you were the first people to support and push me. Today, I begin a new journey and I seek your blessings like you did with my music journey 20 years ago.

Cheers from the mammoth crowds that gathered to have a glimpse of the prospective Lord Mayor of Kampala continued to grow as he announced that he will be contesting for the seat as an independent candidate.

I do not belong to any party, I am independent.

Chameleone has often stated it that he does not look at the Mayoral seat as a political seat but rather a leadership role which he is willing to take on in order to serve all Ugandans without political segregation.

We wish him the very best on his new journey.
