Chameleone and Maurits Groen to light up rural areas with 250,000 solar panels

With fresh ambitions comes new responsibilities and Jose Chameleone is not taking any chances in his bid to become the new Lord Mayor of Kampala come 2021.

Just days after he launched his bid to contest for the coveted position, Joseph Mayanja a.k.a Jose Chameleone sealed a deal with Maurits Groen to supply over 250,000 solar panels to rural areas.

Maurits Groen is the founder of Waka Waka – a global social enterprise, founded in 2012, that develops and sells portable solar products for people without access to electricity across the world.

Waka Waka is a Swahili phrase that means ‘shine bright’. The enterprise donates one solar light to a family living without access to electricity for every Waka Waka purchased.

Chameleone, while on his European music tour in 2018, met Maurits Groen and the two were engaged in extensive talks focused on venturing into developing rural areas in Uganda.

Having taken a huge leap of faith towards his Mayorship bid, Chameleone is now reported to have successfully sealed the deal to ship in about 250,000 solar panels with intentions of distributing them to the neediest Ugandans.

This must be a good deal for Ugandans at large especially those in rural areas and the singer seems to have scored an early goal. We shall keep you updated on the matter.
