Today is the International Jazz Day and Ugandans will celebrate it together with one of Africa’s greatest living musicians Angelique Kidjo.

The multiple Grammy award winner is joined by Darren Rahn and Isaiah Katumwa to celebrate the day at Kampala Serena Hotel tonight.

The music icon who arrived in Uganda for her first time on Sunday revealed that she is excited to be on the +256 soils and ready to give her best performance.

She noted that the secret to her greatness lies within Africa, a continent which she regards the most diverse if it comes to culture and music.

The magic of my great music is the African continent. We have so much good music in Africa, but we Africans don’t realize how we have impacted the music today.

I don’t shy away from doing any kind of music because I know all kinds of music started here in Africa. I am so proud of my continent and my culture. We have to embrace who we are, and then give it out fully.
