The ‘Blow My Mind’ video depicts a 90s MTV-inspired setting as Ugandan songstress Sabina Ddumba features Nigerian singer Mr Eazi on a song that could become another banger on the African continent.

Sabina Ddumba is a 25-year-old Ugandan songstress based in Sweden. She draws her inspiration from the sounds on the African continent.

I am African. The musical influences from the continent, and more closely Uganda, is in my blood. I’m not saying that I’m all about doing African-influenced music, but I love that ‘Blow My Mind’ turned out to be a perfect merge of soul, R&B; and African rhythms.

The song, debuted last week, was co-written by MNEK – a Grammy-nominated British-Nigerian pop star.

Ddumba also credited Mr Eazi for the unique touch which he added to the song.

When [MNEK and I] were close to finishing the song, I was really feeling it and I asked TMS, the producers, to modify the bassline just to bring in some of that Ugandan vibe. And Mr. Eazi is the right artist for this. Even though he’s not from Uganda, I can hear that we have the same musical influences and talk the same musical language.

In the colorful music video, Ddumba performs with a group of dancers before a couple of sleek backdrops. It is inspired by the 90s MTV and shows a young girl excitedly watching Ddumba on TV before Mr Eazi later joining on the final verse.
