The 4th edition of the Maranatha Global Worship Music Awards (MGWMA) were held at the Emerald Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday 12th May 2019.

Ugandan gospel singer Levixone Lucas won the Best Afro Pop Artist of Excellence award at the awards.

The ‘Turn The Replay’ singer revealed that since starting out as a gospel artist, his vision has always been to see that gospel music is recognized and spread world over.

He is therefore humbled to see it being achieved through his music. He dedicated it to the gospel fraternity in Uganda saying that it has come a long way.

In a larger sense, however, this award is more appropriately deserved by the gospel fraternity here in Uganda. Gospel music has come a long way in making an impact in this country. This award goes to show that we indeed do not labor in vain.

The awards are held annually with the aim of acknowledging authentic Biblical worship music and encouraging Gospel artistes to work harder.

This year’s edition was themed; “Celebrating Excellence in Worship Music Ministry seeks to acknowledge authentic Biblical worship music and to honor exceptional individuals from around the globe.”

CONGRATULATIONS Levixone. Keep waving the flag high!
