Singers Iryn Namubiru and Sheila Nvanungi are included on the list of seven women who are said to have been involved in relationships with a lawfully married Prof. Gilbert Bukenya.

Reportedly, wife to former Vice President Professor Gilbert Bukenya, Dr. Margaret Mary Musoke has petitioned the High Court’s family division seeking for an end to their 45-year-old marriage.

Wedded on September 21st 1974 at St. Augustine Chapel, Makerere, Musoke and Bukenya have been lawfully married for close to 45 years. Despite all, the latter has been involved in several infidelity cases.

Dr. Musoke, in her affidavit, mentions over seven women who are believed to have had affairs with Prof. Bukenya, some of which sired children.

Among those mentioned are local songstresses Iryn Namubiru and Princess Sheila Nvanungi who were publicly acclaimed as the former V.P’s side-dishes by media a few years ago.

The respondent (Bukenya) has had several extramarital affairs which have been highly publicized in the media much to my shame and ridicule. The women include popular musician Irene Namubiru and Sheila Nvannungi among others.

Others include Teddy Ndagire, Stella Njuba, Jamila Nakku, Margaret Kabasinguzi, Shonny Batanda, Justine Najjemba, Cissy Namujju, among others.

Dr. Musoke claims that there is so much shame and emotional distress in being Prof. Bukenya’s wife due to the embarrassment caused by the husband’s sexual scandals.

She also reveals that the former Vice President abandoned her without explanation and has not spent a night at the family’s matrimonial home in Ntinda since July 2012.

The mother of three now wants court to dissolve the marriage and order Prof. Bukenya to her half the price of the property the couple owns since she contributed to its acquisition.

Bukenya is expected to file a defense within fifteen days.
