Earlier this month, NTV Uganda news anchor Andrew Kyamagero wedded his longtime lover Ndagire Linda in a civil marriage and later served guests to a Roman-themed ceremony at Buule Islands.

While appearing on NTV Uganda’s Mwasuze Mutya show, Andrew Kyamagero, popularly known as Omuntu Wawansi, was asked why he settled for a civil marriage instead of the religious wedding.

One of the main issues he raised was that churches today ask for too much money before they can allow you to be religiously wedded. In comparison, a civil marriage does not require too much financially.

He acknowledged that the intention of the wedding was to satisfy his own – and the wife’s – feelings and everything went according to plan as he married the woman of his life.

Also, Kyamagero reveals that many churches are not very keen with marriage certificates and several couples end up facing troubles when their certificates are not officially recognized by the government systems.

Always inquire if the churches you’re being married in are licensed. Take those licenses to URSB and have it checked and updated to be recognized in the government systems.
