Since music becoming a profession, Uganda has witnessed the birth of several music groups and Red UG is here to add more talent to the big scene with their new project titled ‘Mic Check’.

Despite the creation of several music groups, there have been just two boy trio groups in the last ten years; the B2C Entertainment and New Chapter. We have mostly had duos some of whom have shaped the music industry.

Red UG, comprised of Edrine Mukwaya a.k.a Edrine Bronx, Yiga Johnson a.k.a Mickey, and Ntabazi Kazzi Alexander a.k.a Alex, becomes only the third trio in the last decade. It was formed in 2016.

From strong participation in school entertainment programs, the trio have built their group into such a music powerhouse which has hugely been developed through music exhibitions before deciding to hit the big scene.

The trio ventures in a range of music genres like Pop, Hip-hop, Dancehall, and Afro-pop. They have released songs like Sorry, Life Time, Hustle, In The Bank, Breakdown, Dancefloor, among others.

The group is inspired by Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Micheal Jackson, Mafikizolo. Locally, they pick inspiration from Jose Chameleone and Afrigo Band. They look forward to creating positive change driven by honesty, kindness and love through music.

Listening to their new song titled ‘Mic Check’, Red UG has the potential to become one of the best Afro-pop groups in East Africa. The video for the song is set to drop soon but catch the snippet below:
