As the jubilation mode for Ugandans across the world continues after a crucial first win for the Uganda Cranes in the AFCON 2019, Tamale Mirundi is still unimpressed by the team’s display.

The Uganda Cranes scored twice to edge DR Congo in the second match of this year’s African Cup of Nations as they went ahead to top Group A on day two of the tournament.

Headed goals from Patrick Kaddu and Emmanuel Okwi were enough to send the Ugandans in cheerful mode but former Presidential Press Secretary Tamale Mirundi wasn’t impressed with the win.

While appearing on the One On One with Tamale Mirundi show on NBS TV today morning, the popular figure expressed his dissatisfaction saying that he expected nothing less in a match against familiar opponents.

I am not convinced with that win. We played against a Congo which is in our region – East and Central Africa. We have played against them before. I didn’t expect them to lose.

The motormouth went further and challenged the national football team to prove him wrong by winning the remaining group games; against Egypt and Zimbabwe.

I will only be pleased if they (Uganda Cranes) win against the teams from other African regions. Let them win against Egypt, that’s when I’ll praise them for a job well done.

The Cranes face Zimbabwe’s ‘The Warriors’ on Wednesday evening in a match anticipated to be a cracker as the latter search for their first win at the competition after losing their opening game against the hosts, Egypt.

Well, the ball is in the Cranes’ hands yet again. You have someone to prove wrong this time around.
