The comedy industry in Uganda is slowly taking over from the music industry in terms of vibrancy and the audience just keeps multiplying. Great thanks can be forwarded to the key players in the industry.

Alex Muhangi and Patrick Salvado are some of the names that quickly come to mind when you speak of Ugandan comedy if we are to look at the figures that have invested the most in developing the industry by organizing weekly shows which attract massive crowds.

Salvado is a new entrant in the business as he adds a new weekly show dubbed ‘Just Comedy’ to the already existing ‘Comedy Store UG’. The first of the many shows to come happened on Wednesday night at Kingdom Kampala Mall. It attracted a big crowd with several fans turning up.

With competition comes rivalry which is easily translated into beef in the Ugandan entertainment business. Several critics have already asserted that Salvado is being jealous of Muhangi’s success and hence setting up his own weekly show as a counter solution.

Patrick Salvado and Alex Muhangi are rumored to be beefing

During an interview on local television on Tuesday evening, Salvado distanced himself from the rumors of rivalry saying that the shows happen on different days, attract different classes of people, and possess diverse concepts and goals.

To further clear those rumors, comedian and close competitor Alex Muhangi appeared in the crowd at Kingdom Kampala Mall last night in support of Salvado’s new development.
