August always spells the start of the party season in Uganda and 2019 will not be any different as the famous Coachella comes to Kampala at the ‘East Meets West’ festival.

The ‘East Meets West’ festival is Uganda’s Afro-fusion festival which brings the best talents from West Africa and East Africa together.

It is is set to be an annual festival at which artistes from Western Africa come to Uganda and perform alongside East African artistes.

For the very first edition of the festival, a huge number of artistes from West Africa have been selected and invited to come and perform at the event which is slated for 17th August at Logogo Hockey Grounds.

Some of artistes from West Africa that are expected to perform at the festival include: Mayorkun, Ycee, King Perry, Ladipoe, Oxlade, Jinmi Abduls. The last two have actually already arrived in the country.


East Africa will be represented by Irene Ntale, Ben Soul (Sauti Sol), Chris Kaiga, John Blaq, Lamu, Le Ru, Wendy Kemunto, Lagum The Rapper, among others.

Several disk jockeys have also been confirmed to perform at the event including DJ Simples, DJ Kas Baby, DJ Bryan, DJ Crowd Kontroller, Slick Stuart & Roja, DJ Tenyis, DJ Alur, DJ Vee, among others.

One of the organizers reveals that it’s envisioned to become the African version of the famous Coachella Music and Arts festival based in the USA which pools various global music icons together in California annually.

Apart from the music and performances, there will be other interesting bits like face-painting, games, fashion reveals and all the other things that cannot miss on such big festivals. The event will also start at noon just like those international festivals.

Uganda is widely known to be filled with joyous, welcoming people who love to party. With a festival like this one, the slay queens and kings must be anticipating to bring on their A-game.
