For the first time, celebrated Tanzanian songbird Vanessa Mdee opened up about her secret condition of living with blindness in one of her eyes.
The East Africa Got Talent judge disclosed about her eye condition during the second episode of the show after she was stunned by a contestant known as Mark Angachi.
This was after Angachi, at his tender age, showcased his prowess in singing soul music that forced all judges to give him a standing ovation before he disclosed how he was suffering from an eye condition called cataracts.
Angachi also went on and revealed that he is a cancer survivor which melted Ms. Mdee’s heart thus forcing her to disclose that one of her eyes is clinically blind.
She, however, encouraged the Angachi to keep going after his dreams regardless of what happens at the end of the competition.
It’s unusual for someone so young to sing so soulfully. You can tell that you have been through a lot of stuff. I’m clinically blind in one eye but that hasn’t stopped me from pursing my biggest dreams. Let that be the fuel that drives you no matter the out comes from the end of this competition. To me you are the winner and you’re going to continue winning.Ms Mdee
