The Afrigo Band is one of the oldest yet finest bands in the Ugandan entertainment industry. Their music has lasted ages since their inception over 40 years ago.

One of their golden albums, the most popular one, has lasted for over 20 years and they look forward to releasing a new one come October 11th 2019 at Hotel Africana, Kampala.

They easily claim the legendary status for their exceptional talents and compositions. Even those we term as legends refer to Afrigo Band as legendary.

One man who has always acclaimed his love, admiration, and utmost respect to the band is Ugandan Reggae music icon Maddox Sematimba. He will use any chance given to tell you how much of an inspiration the band was on his own music career.

While being hosted on NBS TV’s After 5 show on Wednesday night, Maddox severally mentioned Afrigo Band and it’s lead singer Mr. Moses Matovu as his inspiration.

That band is a really old one and it inspired all of us. Let nobody lie to you that they weren’t inspired by Afrigo. Those are our fore-fathers. I accord respect to them.

Maddox Sematimba

He further stated that growing up, he listened much to the music from the indigenous musicians in Uganda, including the Kadongo Kamu artistes and they must have inspired him in one way or another.
